The Advanced Protection of Vulnerable Road Users (APVRU) project is part of the Foresight Vehicle Programme looking to provide the basis of technology solutions towards 2020. Foresight Vehicle is the UK's national automotive research and development programme aiming to promote technology and to improve the communicaiton between industry and academia. The APVRU consortium comprises TRL Limited, Jaguar Cars Limited, Ifrared Integrated Systems Limited (IRISYS) and the University of Surrey. The project is jointly funded by the Department for Trade and Industry (DTI), the Department for Transport (DFT), the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), and the industrial partners of the consortium.
