DISSEMINATION

The consortium attach considerable importance to the dissemination and exploitation of the results of the project and will devise and implement a comprehensive strategy. Dissemination will continue after completion of the project by means of seminars in each participating country.

It is important to disseminate information about the project from the outset. A range of methods will be considered including, producing a leaflet and circulating it to interested parties, and presentations at conferences and seminars which the target audience are likely to attend. Conferences such as RISC '97 are ideal not only for disseminating results at the end of the project but also for presenting the aims, objectives and methods at an early stage. This will enable interested parties to contribute to the project from an early stage, and to anticipate the results at the end of the project.

Particular attention will be paid to the means by which the results obtained can be disseminated to the national authorities responsible for managing the bridge stock in both Central and Eastern European countries. Contacts with the national authorities in Western Europe will be made through the Western European Road Directors (WERD) and their deputies (DERD).

It will be a priority of the BRIME partners to publicise the findings as the project proceeds, with emphasis on the final results. In addition to presentations at conferences, papers will be submitted to scientific and technical journals on specific aspects of the project. The project has a number of different aspects which can be presented in different journals to ensure that all the target audiences are aware of the results. A formal strategy for conference presentations and technical papers will be developed in the early stages of the project.

An added benefit will be the mutual education and harmonisation among participants. This will assist the spread of best practice on all areas of the project across the EC.
