About the role

We are looking for an experienced Test Facility Manager to join our established team of Test Technicians.

This is an exciting and varied role which involves the delivery of tests, at our Impact Test Facility, to specific standards and protocols, with the highest possible levels of quality and to time.  

This role would be ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors.

Responsibilities include:

• Management of the Health Safety & Welfare of testing staff, contractors & visitors
• Ensuring all vehicle and equipment maintenance registers are kept up to date
• Making all arrangements for impact test dates based on TRL staff, customer and track availability
• Maintenance of adequate stock of test vehicles and ensuring all vehicle documentation is kept and legal responsibilities are met
• Liaison with manufacturers’ and interested parties, acting as the single point of contact for all testing arrangements
• Overall responsibility for Civil’s work & Sub-contractors on site
• Management of post-test clear up
• Responsibility for vehicle/material removal and disposal in keeping with TRL’s standards

Skills and Experience

Applicants with a civil engineering background are preferred. Previous test-house facilities management experience would be advantageous.  Applicants must be energetic; self-motivated with a ‘can do’ attitude; have good team working skills; a flexible approach to working patterns; and the ability to work unsupervised.

The ability to engage with customers at all levels and working backgrounds is essential.

Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills are key.

The Test Facility Manager will also be required to take the lead and set examples of work ethics and skills application to the Test Technicians. 

This role is based initially at TRL’s Headquarters near Wokingham, however the current test site is moving, so the applicant must be prepared to travel to our facility further West on the M4 corridor.

The successful applicant must be security cleared otherwise they must be willing to undertake the security clearance process.
