TRL's security team has been at the forefront of transport-related security advice, particularly hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) work, providing specialist consultancy for the protection of critical sites and other commercial locations. We've provided research, development and testing for a wide range of physical protective measures and work closely with a large number of leading manufacturers in this field. We've worked on detailed HVM guidance for the UK governments' Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI) as well as developing the standards for barriers - PAS 68: 2007 ‘Specification for Vehicle Security Barriers' and PAS 69: 2007 ‘Guidance for the Selection, Installation and Use of Security Barriers'.
TRL's unique experience and testing facilities in this field are now in demand from a growing and diverse range of customers who need to access the latest thinking on perimeter protection. Expertise covers: specialist threat and risk assessment; advanced 3D data capture; development of practical risk-mitigation strategies; physical and simulation testing; product development and testing; and computer modelling and visualisations (for stakeholder consultation, simulated environment and scenario training).
The security team has specialist security risk assessment and survey capabilities across a range of concerns, from terrorist and criminal activity to identification of perimeter incursions by pedestrian intruders. Our experience in threat assessment and risk analysis has been applied to a variety of assets, including sensitive structures and facilities within the UK and internationally.
