Simulation training technology is becoming an important tool in assisting companies to establish comprehensive driver training programmes, helping to nurture safer and more efficient driving.
The driving simulator monocoque houses an original vehicle cabin, a Mercedes Benz Actros, which is installed in the centre of a wide-angle spherical screen. It's moved by an electrical motion base offering 6 degrees of freedom (6DOF), and is equipped with high-resolution animated graphics and surround sound. The simulator is programmed to move to replicate the impact of acceleration, braking and gradients or even effects of particular loads. Simulated scenes can re-create incidents such as tyre blow-out and can introduce varying weather effects such as snow, rain, sun or fog at the click of a button.
The modular design of the simulator system enables the cab to be changed to a bus or coach cab if required. All the controls and displays of the cab's dashboard are represented, as well as steering, pedals and gear shift.
