EuroNCAP

Our research has led to the safer design of vehicles, which absorb energy, keep the occupant compartments intact and ensure deceleration levels are tolerable for drivers and passengers. We have been instrumental in the development of standards and regulations including programmes such as EuroNCAP and work with manufacturers on design guidelines.
EuroNCAP provides consumers with an independent assessment of the safety performance of cars sold in Europe. Established in 1997 and now backed by five European Governments, the European Commission, motoring and consumer organisations in every EU country, EuroNCAP has rapidly become a catalyst for encouraging safety improvements to car design.
TRL is widely recognised for establishing protocols for the EuroNCAP star rating system. This approach is used by the manufacturers and consumers to rate and compare vehicle crash protection.
