TRL Annual Research Review 2010

For over 75 years, TRL has been at the forefront of developing efficient and effective knowledge-based solutions that have resolved the transport issues of the day.

In its recently published 2010 Annual Research Review, TRL shares its research highlights for the year, as well as focussing on selected topics which include:

  • Geometric field-of-view manipulations affect perceived speed in driving simulators
  • Comparison of motorcycle and car tyre/road surface friction
  • Policies for low-carbon transport in Asian countries
  • Puffin pedestrian crossing accident study
  • European long-life pavements - a potential yet to be realised

The foreword is written by TRL's Chief Executive, Dr Sue Sharland who emphasises the importance of finding ways to deliver a transport system, all modes, that require less investment in both new provision and maintenance but which is still capable of delivering the system that supports our transport needs and, crucially, supports the growth in the economy that we need.
