CAR OWNERSHIP UPDATE (2007-2009)

This issue of Current Topics includes over 65 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on car ownership and usage. Subjects covered include statistics of present usage and forecasting models for predicting future ownership patterns; factors influencing ownership decisions, such as the effects of raised taxes and other costs, and various initiatives being taken in many countries of the world to limit the use of the car. Abstracts on increasing car ownership in the developing countries are included. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 2007 and 2009. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database.
