Car usage reduction methods update (2000-2002)

This issue of Current Topics includes 60 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles that focus on the methods currently being used to reduce the use of private vehicles. Articles on the promotion and improvement of the public transport infrastructure are included. Several abstracts consider the psychology behind car use and ways to change the mind-set. Car pooling and car-sharing are also considered. These items have been selected from the material added to the TRL Library Database between 2000 and 2002. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database.
