Car Usage Reduction Methods Update (2003-2006)

This issue of Current Topics includes over 70 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on the methods currently being used to reduce the use of private vehicles. Articles on the promotion and improvement of the public transport infrastructure are included. Several abstracts consider the psychology behind car use and ways to change the mind-set. Car pooling and car-sharing are also considered. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory’s Library Database between 2003 and 2006. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database.
