This issue of Current Topics includes over 65 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on recent improvements in fuel consumption and developments in alternative fuels for buses, cars, lorries and vehicle fleets. Amongst the topics covered are fuel efficiency, improved engine design, the effects of road layout / surfacing on fuel consumption, encouraging economical driving, and new fuels including electrical fuel cells, biofuels, gas fuels such as liquid natural gas (LNG), compressed natural gas (CNG), hydrogen and hybrid fuel systems. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 2005 and 2007.
