Parking systems technology update (2000-2002)

This issue of Current Topics includes over 60 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on recent developments in parking technology. Among the specific topics are: equipment for parking payment (pay and display), smart cards and other forms of cashless parking, enforcement systems, automated parking systems, advanced parking information systems, the use of variable message signs to optimise car park spaces, intelligent barrier systems, and ventilation systems for multi storey car parks. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 2000 and 2002. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database.
