Planning and design considerations for road tunnels: The influence of operation and maintenance

A road tunnel can take a long time to plan and build and involve many people before it can be used by traffic. Yet the decisions taken at an early stage can have a considerable influence on the efficiency and economy of operation and maintenance. All aspects of road tunnels are reviewed in this report in order to present an overall picture of road tunnels in general for the benefit of promoters and future operators.
