Kempston urban cycle route project after study

The Kempston (Bedford) Urban Cycle Route is one of the large scale cycle projects supported by the Department of Transport (DOT) cycle route research programme. The spine of the network runs for 5 km on a SW - NE axis from the Kempston boundary to Bedford town centre. Subsidiary links provide almost complete coverage of Kempston. The report compares survey and cycle count data taken in 1985 before construction started with similar data for 1990 when the route was mostly completed.
