A user's guide to the computer programs for predicting air pollution from road traffic

Use of the computer program suite is described with particular emphasis on its application to the environmental appraisal of road schemes. The procedure is given for identifying properties likely to experience an air pollution problem and to quantify the impact of the scheme at those locations and an example is worked in detail. It is also shown, again with worked examples, how the programs may be used to provide a wide range of information useful in a scheme assessment: concentrations of a number of pollutants may be forecast for a variety of assumptions of traffic flows, weather conditions and exposure periods and contour plots of pollutant concentrations may be drawn.
