a survey of long-distance journeys made by manchester residents in 1974

a residents' survey of greater manchester was carried out in november 1974, the purpose of which was to isolate those respondents making long-distance journeys and to examine the journey characteristics of such travellers (long-distance journeys were classed as those with destinations outside the north-west planning region). of the roughly 8000 respondents interviewed, 61 per cent made at least one such journey. basic classification factors are given for all respondents; for travellers, results are categorised by purpose before other analyses are presented.(a)
