a survey of recreational traffic in the yorkshire dales

in 1975 trrl conducted a roadside interview survey of recreational traffic in the yorkshire dales national park. a route mapping technique was used to record details of the journey, and stops within the park. data from the survey were used to develop diagrams showing the distribution of traffic flow in the dales on the survey days. the distribution and duration of stops and trip length between stops are also discussed. the trip origin data were used to derive equations relating trip rate per 1000 car-owning households in the origin zone with distance, travel time and generalised cost.(a)
