a method of recording axle load sequences and groupings

equipment has been designed for the automatic collection of data on axle load sequences and groupings. a dynamic weighbridge and a vehicle detector are set in a traffic lane of a road open to normal traffic. the axle load signals are combined in sequence with the detector signal and both recorded on a digital recorder. the recording is analysed by a computer to provide the information required from the sequence of loads. some examples are given of the use of the data in studies of highway bridge loadings.
