fuel consumption of commercial vehicles: instrumentation and analysis of results

a system has been developed for analysing the fuel consumption of commercial vehicles. transducers for measuring accelerator position, fuel flow, torque in the drive shaft and speed are used. a data logging unit scans these transducers and records the results on magnetic tape. subsequent storage of data, analysis and presentation of results is achieved using a mini computer. examples of test procedures and typical results are shown.(a)
