MotorGraph

Motorgraph is a traffic visualisation tool developed by TRL in conjunction with the Highways Agency that supports network performance management, traffic control systems tuning and monitoring as well as traffic data interpretation.
The basis of Motorgraph (formally known as Online MTV) is an expert system that advises of potential faults as soon as possible after they occur, together with a web-enabled view of near-real-time traffic and system conditions. TRL developed a Motograph to provide managers and operators with timely and relevant information to enable this.
The demonstrator processes near-real-time MIDAS Gold and signal data on a motorway where MIDAS infrastructure is in place. It continuously analyses the current and historical traffic and signal conditions, and reports any major anomalies via a user interface.
Motorgraph has proved to be valuable in assessing the introduction and operation of new facilities at the Active Traffic Management pilot site. This has resulted in a need to move Motohraph to a permanent, more robust version with a wider user group. Typical 'key' users include the National Traffic Control Centre (NTCC), regional control centres.
Other users to see benefit in accessing this data may include local highway authorities and other network operators.
