New report on recent trends in fuel prices and fuel pricing policies in developing countries

Date: 25/6/2012
The Global Fuel Economy Initiative (GFEI) has just released its latest working paper looking at recent trends and case studies on fuel prices and fuel pricing policies in developing countries. This is to complement its new workplan for the next three years, launched at the International Transport Forum Ministerial meeting in Liepzig in May.
Prepared for the GFEI by TRL, the purpose of this guidance document is to inform national governments in developing and emerging economies about some of the current sources of international funding that are available and that could be used to support national efforts to improve vehicle fuel efficiency. It also provides an introduction on how to access the international financial mechanisms listed.
The GFEI aspires to achieve:
- 30% reduction in L/100km by 2020 in all new cars in OECD countries
- 50% reduction by 2030 in all new cars globally, and
- 50 by 2050 in all cars globally
(compared to 2005)
