TRL and GCA, Inc. Enter Partnership Agreement

Date: 9/7/2013
GCA Inc, a consulting engineering firm based in Atlanta, Georgia, is a leading specialist in traffic engineering and intelligent transportation systems, focussing on providing transportation strategies for optimizing the movement of people, goods and services.
TRL’s Traffic and Software Business Unit provides consultancy and develops world leading traffic control systems such as SCOOT, MOVA, and TRANSYT Online. TRL also developed the offline signal optimisation and coordination package TRANSYT 14 and its well-used roundabout analysis software – ARCADY.
Now the two companies have agreed to team on various projects to maximise market position and to provide breadth of scale to their customer base in terms of technology, resources and best practices worldwide. As a result, TRL and GCA now have in place a contractual agreement to share knowledge and staff.
This expanded team concept combines to significantly increase the ability for each organisation to peruse larger opportunities and utilise each other’s specific strengths, skills and expertise in the United States and elsewhere.
For GCA, this enables them to have access to knowledgeable experts in the field of traffic control and modelling on a worldwide application basis, whilst TRL has access to GCA’s expert knowledge relating to transportation engineering technology and applications in the United States.
TRL has already worked in the United States albeit on a limited basis with regard to research related projects. This new affiliation with GCA provides a stronger foothold with respect to providing consultancy and research related activities to the United States as it relates, not only to providing technology and resources, but also to best practices subject to worldwide applications.
Jim Gray, Principal Engineer at GCA says: “Partnering with TRL is a unique opportunity which provides us and our clients with access to a global perspective as it relates to the transportation engineering field. It also expands the staff that we have access to overnight, while retaining the flexibility of the size of our organization”.
Gavin Jackman, Head of Traffic and Software at TRL, says: “The GCA relationship has been growing over the last few years and this agreement allows us to take a step change in our joint approach. We look forward to working closely together during this exciting period.
TRL’s Traffic and Software Business Unit has grown its markets steadily year on year over the last 5 years, and this latest move allows us to progress further with our strategy with a reliable and knowledgeable partner.”
