TRL announces TRANSYT 14 maintenance release: now with SCOOT and SCATS data import

Date: 8/12/2010
TRL has today announced the TRANSYT 14.0.2 maintenance release which is free of charge to existing TRANSYT 14 customers.
Its primary aim is to continue the on-going enhancement to TRANSYT's capabilities, particularly in terms of ease-of-use through the establishment of links with other third-party products.
TRANSYT needs accurate average traffic flows in order to provide good predictions of network performance. Often other systems, models or products exist, from which suitable flow data can be extracted. Two such products are SCOOT and SCATS®
For both the UK and all the other many countries where SCOOT is installed, TRANSYT 14 now has the ability to import SCOOT flow data and assign this to TRANSYT model links. Making this change to automate and allow TRANSYT files to use existing data that many customers already hold, is just one example of TRL's commitment to the reuse of data and the joining up of traffic engineering tools.
TRL demonstrated this new functionality at their recently run SCOOT course and with feedback from participants being highly favourable, TRL is confident it will be a big hit with users!
Included in TRANSYT 14, TRL has already provided Australian or SCATS based terminology. Simply put: swapping stage to phase, and phase to signal group. However that's not all: following on from a recent validation tour of Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney, TRL has released further functionality for its Australian and New Zealand user base.
TRANSYT 14.0.2 now has a brand new data import and reporting link direct from SCATS. The import allows users to bring in SCATS flow data and assign the flows to a TRANSYT link. The reporting side of TRANSYT allows TRANSYT optimised offsets to be put back into SCATS.
TRANSYT 14 and the SCOOT kernel are developed by TRL.
SCATS® is a registered trade mark of New South Wales RTA.
