TRL - Creating the future of transport

Resilient Mobility

Climate change is likely to increase the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events such as flooding and heatwaves, and will also produce gradual changes in climate which can modify deterioration mechanisms. Climate change has the potential to cause significant disruption to travel and damage to transport infrastructure. Planning for these changes and taking action to adapt, reduces the risk of damage and disruption, and the costs associated with these.

The Resilient Mobility initiative aims to raise awareness of the need for the transport sector to adapt to climate change impacts and the range of actions that can be taken. Actions include incorporating climate change adaptation into transport policy, carrying out risk assessments, identifying vulnerabilities, modifying infrastructure and maintenance procedures, and training stakeholders, so they have the capacity to act in the future.
