2011 'significant' for British motoring

Date: 20/12/2011
It has been claimed 2011 was a "significant year" for the UK motoring industry.Chief Executive of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Paul Everitt explained global vehicle manufacturers have announced plans to invest £4 billion into Britain.
This money will be spent on a variety of different projects, ranging from the introduction of all-new vehicles to the development of sustainable and low-carbon technology.
"Despite the uncertainty within the eurozone, these decisions demonstrate real confidence in the future of UK manufacturing and its role within a rebalanced economy," Mr Everitt stated.
Much of this investment has come from international sources and this suggests the country's future prospects also look strong, the expert commented.
This comes just after individuals and organisations were invited to put their names forward for the 2012 Transport Achievement Award, the winner of which will be announced at the International Transport Forum's summit between May 2nd and 4th in Leipzig, Germany.
