2012 'a second electric revolution'

Date: 6/1/2012
This year will see a "second electric revolution" in the world of cars, it has been claimed.Next Green Car stated that two plug-in hybrids will be launched to join the all-electric vehicles introduced in 2011.
Furthermore, there are likely to be some "technologically ground-breaking models" made available, including more "conventional" diesel hybrid motors that will provide greater fuel economy than the existing petrol hybrid versions.
Managing Editor of Next Green Car Dr Ben Lane said increasing numbers of people "will find their motoring needs met by a hybrid, or by a plug-in hybrid which offers the ultimate combination of conventional and electric drive-trains."
He added that these models can result in lower running costs for owners, as well help reduce carbon emissions.
Renault is one manufacturer that has increased its efforts to produce eco-friendly motors, as it recently announced its four new electric motors will be available from 21 dealers up and down the UK.
