Alfa Romeo Giulietta the safest compact?

Alfa Romeo Giulietta the safest compact?

Date: 3/6/2010

The safest compact ever is the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, according to safety experts.

Euro NCAP has awarded the car a five-star rating after it achieved an overall score of 87/100 during tests.

Four parts make up the assessment scheme; Child Occupant, Pedestrian Protection, Adult Occupant and the newly-introduced Safety Assist.

The latter includes systems which make the vehicle safer by avoiding incidents like not wearing a seatbelt – the Alfa Romeo Giulietta is fitted with a restraint reminder – and it also has a speed limiter.

A number of other features have been incorporated into the vehicle to help protect road users, including traction control and emergency braking known as the hill holder.

It also has a new Prefill device, which sends a signal to the accelerator when a brake pedal has been pushed and this decreases the intervention time.

Euro NCAP is backed by seven governments within Europe and was established in 1997 to provide consumers with an independent safety exam on cars.
