Bank DLR station to close for a month

Date: 12/10/2009
The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) platform at Bank station is to close for a month from Christmas Eve.The line is currently undergoing a number of significant improvements so that three carriage trains can be introduced in early 2010.
DLR director Jonathan Fox apologised for the disruption but noted that the work was "essential".
"We are investing millions in upgrading the DLR and this is the next step in providing more capacity on the network," he said.
The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) is helping to fund the improvement works - Stratford, where the 2012 Olympic Games are being held, is at one end of the DLR network.
Hugh Sumner, director of transport at the ODA, said: "By providing the funding that allows theses upgrades to take place the ODA has again demonstrated the benefits and legacy the Games will bring."
Bank station is also served by the Northern, Central and Waterloo and City Lines.
