Date: 25/1/2011
One Ipswich woman has received recognition for the work she has carried out in raising awareness about road safety issues.Michelle Luetchford has received Brake's Volunteer of the Year Award 2010 in honour of her efforts, which have included raising £8,000 for the charity through a variety of means, including parachute jumping, climbing Ben Nevis and organising a treasure hunt and soul night.
Ms Luetchford began helping the charity after her sister, Emma, was killed when a car mounted the pavement in February 2009.
Her other sister Beccy was also seriously injured, while a friend, Kate, died at the scene.
Julie Townsend, Campaigns Director at Brake, said: "I would urge everyone to listen to Michelle's story and pledge to drive safely - including slowing down to 20mph in communities."
Brake's Road Safety Week, which will take place during November, will this year focus on the injury and death of young people involved in accidents.
