Bikers urged to take care on the roads

Bikers urged to take care on the roads

Date: 25/11/2010

Motorcyclists have been urged to take extra precautions on the roads and practice riding in all weather conditions by one experienced biker.

Darren Fawthrop, who has been interested in motorcycles all his life and runs Big D's biker bar, told the Halifax Courier lives can be saved if riders are careful and drivers keep an eye out for them.

He stated using a motorbike regularly and during all seasons gives people invaluable experience, while it is crucial to wear the correct protective gear.

Riding a bike is very different to driving a car, Mr Fawthrop continued, as bikers have to always be ready for vehicles to pull out in front of them in case they are not seen.

"The way you drive has to be totally different to when you're in a car because you don't have that cage to save you," he explained.

Wayne Lambert also cautioned people about the potential dangers of riding bikes and scooters recently, after he was almost killed in a motorcycle accident, according to the Watford Observer.
