Blackpool Trams closed for winter

Date: 10/11/2009
The tram service in Blackpool ended on Monday and won't be running again until April 2010.
Blackpool Council leader Peter Callow said the city has a fantastic tram
heritage and the plans would ensure the system's future.
"By Easter 2010 we will have ultra-modern trams providing an efficient public transport network for both residents and visitors without sacrificing our wonderful heritage trams," he explained previously.
The tramway in Blackpool began operating in 1885.
This is the second time it has closed in its 124 years of operation.
Next year, however, another closure is scheduled to replace other track sections.
