British Airways plans fresh talks with staff union

Date: 7/1/2010
Further talks are to be held this week between British Airways and leaders of the union that represents the airline's cabin crew, it has been reported. It is hoped the talks will settle a dispute between the airline and its staff, staving off strikes that have threatened to disrupt services.
The union Unite is opposed to changes to cabin crew rosters implemented by the airline.
However, British Airways claims the changes are necessary and is adamant they will stay in place.
It is currently working on a cost-cutting agenda following record losses.
British Airways predicts it could lose as much as £750 million this year due to higher fuel prices and a decrease in premium passenger numbers, according to the Times.
A 12-day strike planned for the Christmas period was called off by a High Court judge last month because Unite had reportedly balloted staff who were no longer working for British Airways.
