Brits waiting 4 months to make car repairs, study shows

Date: 16/3/2012
Many drivers are putting themselves at risk by failing to repair illegal faults on their vehicle, research has revealed.A study conducted by Britannia Rescue found people wait an average of four months before getting their motor fixed.
Furthermore, there are seven million illegal drivers on the UK's roads and 18 per cent of motorists have driven a car without a valid MOT licence.
Britannia Rescue Spokeswoman Vanessa Chance said more must be done to show individuals they could be putting themselves in danger.
"If your brake lights aren't working, the person behind might not see that you're trying to stop and you put yourself in a very difficult position there," she stated.
Ms Chance explained that in many cases, money worries are preventing people from getting their cars repaired and although they do not want to drive a faulty vehicle, they simply cannot afford the bills at the present time.
Many are also unaware they are breaking the law, she added.
