Businesses told to get ready for Olympics

Date: 15/6/2011
In order to keep their operations running effectively during the 2012 London Olympics, businesses in the capital are being urged to start their preparations now.Transport for London (TfL) has revealed that there are a number of tools available to help firms with this planning.
It notes that while all transport improvements are expected to have been delivered in time for the Games - which will see millions more trips made on the network than is typical - commuters will find things are busier than usual.
To make sure that employees, customers and suppliers are able to get to where they need to be, TfL is offering complementary advice and suggests employers consider staggering the working day to avoid rush hours.
Other tips include putting facilities in place to enable staff to work from home, scheduling earlier or later delivery dates, temporarily relocating office members or encouraging more people to cycle or walk.
London's Transport Commissioner Peter Hendy says: "All transport improvements are on track to be delivered well ahead of the Games. But with millions of people coming to enjoy the Games and all that London and the UK have to offer, transport networks will be severely affected."
Stratford Station is to act as the main gateway to next year's Olympics and was subject to the recent Big Build project of upgrades, which was recently completed.
