Date: 24/5/2010
Drivers across Yorkshire are being told to pay more attention to bikers in a bid to reduce the number of casualties on the roads.Safer Roads Humber, South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership and West Yorkshire Road Safety Partnership have launched a new campaign.
Posters, radio promotions, leaflets and a 15ft-long van carrying advertising will be used to get across the Someone's Son scheme, which is designed to make motorcyclists appear more personal to other motorists.
Communications manager for South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership Steve Betts said: "People on two wheels make up a disproportionate number of casualties on the roads of Yorkshire and the Humber and it's this we're hoping to alter."
Meanwhile, bikers in the south-west have the option to go to a road safety event at Castle Combe Circuit on June 5th.
Police motorcyclists will be on hand dishing out safety advice and riders will also get the chance to have a go on the famous circuit.
