Car stickers 'compromising safety of many motorists'

Date: 14/2/2012

Many motorists are compromising their safety by adding accessories to their cars, an expert has suggested.

A spokeswoman for insurance provider Admiral Group explained her organisation conducted research into the matter and asked drivers with window stickers if the decorations obscured their view.

The study found seven in ten motorists think the stickers are a hindrance, something she described as worrying.

"Before drivers accessorise their car in any way, we would ask that they first and foremost consider the safety of themselves, their passengers and other road users," the expert continued.

She reminded motorists that nothing should impede their vision when they get behind the wheel.

It is vital that people can see the road and traffic signs clearly when driving. Meg Munn, the MP for Sheffield Heeley, was recently commended by road safety charity Brake and Direct Line for her campaign to introduce regular eye tests for drivers.
