Check paperwork before driving, classic car owners advised

Date: 23/5/2012
Classic car owners have been reminded to check their paperwork before they take their vehicles out this summer.Research conducted by Footman James has revealed 23 per cent of those with these motors plan to spend the warmer months touring.
However, Managing Director of the company Andy Fairchild reminded them to check their documents before they take to the road after cars have been stored away for the winter.
The study also found that while 26 per cent of classic car owners will spend their free time at shows or rallies when the weather gets warmer, 18 per cent will take the opportunity to wash and polish their motor.
Some 16 per cent claimed they plan to undertake a restoration project.
"With the nice weather finally on the way, it is great to hear that so many classic owners plan to get out on the open road and make the most of their vehicle," Mr Fairchild added.
These comments come just after Roads Minister Mike Penning announced MOTs are being scrapped for classic cars, because their owners generally keep them in good condition.
