Cold snap causes flight, train and bus cancellations and delays

Date: 5/1/2010

Airlines are cancelling flights across the UK and many are being delayed, following the latest spell of freezing weather conditions and snow.

According to the latest updates, Manchester Airport reopened today at midday (January 5th), although passengers are being advised to check with their airlines before heading to the airport.

Departures are still slow with many delays.

Ryanair has cancelled at least 12 flights so far in and out of Liverpool Airport and is offering alternative flights or refunds to passengers.

Easyjet has also been cancelling flights out of Liverpool and Manchester and is also offering refunds or new flights.

The weather is also causing disruption on the roads, with the Highways Agency asking drivers to consider whether their journeys are absolutely necessary before heading on to the roads.

Many rail services in Scotland have also been disrupted.

Bus services have been suspended in Sheffield and parts of South Yorkshire, as well as in the Scottish Highlands.
