Conference to address freight industry's carbon responsibilities

Conference to address freight industry's carbon responsibilities

Date: 18/5/2012

The role the freight industry has to play in reducing carbon emissions will be examined at an upcoming event.

Organised by the Freight Transport Association (FTA), the Logistics Carbon Reduction Conference will be held on May 29th.

It is set to look at ways in which the industry can contribute to national emissions reduction targets.

Methods operators can use to give themselves a competitive edge - as well as improve the image they project to their customers and the way they engage staff - will also be discussed.

Some of those working in the industry are already utilising carbon reduction practices that involve burning fewer fuels and swapping to rail or short sea services in supply chain.

The conference will be chaired by Chief Executive of the FTA Stewart Oades.

Earlier this month, the FTA published the latest edition of its European Road Transport Guide, which provides fleet operators will all the information they need when travelling on the continent.
