Consultation launched on alternative transport scheme in Windsor

Date: 19/2/2013
Windsor and Maidenhead Council has launched a consultation on proposed changes to the transport assistance scheme it provides to young people with disabilities. The plan is for the current home-to-school initiative to be overhauled, and would see residents aged 19 to 25 who have access to the service be collected from designated pick-up points rather than their homes. They would also be dropped off at specific stops.
"Transport policies are very important documents outlining services which affect some of the most vulnerable members of our community," said Councillor Phill Bicknell, Cabinet Member for Children's Services.
"It is equally important that residents are given the opportunity to have their say on proposals to change the services currently available to many young people with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties."
Residents are being asked to review the proposals and contact the local authorities with their thoughts on the plans, some of which are set to start taking effect from September.
