Date: 4/11/2010
A mother and father who lost their 17-year-old son in a car accident have joined a safety campaign to urge other youngsters to drive carefully.David and Janet Warin have pledged their support for 95 Alive, a project coordinated by the York and North Yorkshire road safety partnership, the York Press reports.
Their boy Daniel died in 1995 when driving home from an evening at the cinema with his girlfriend, three weeks after passing his test.
The couple have been visiting schools across the county with the partnership to tell students their story.
Mr Warin said he and his wife do not intend to put young people off getting behind the wheel, stating "we want them to drive, to get a car [and] to enjoy their life".
However, above all they want youngsters to be safe and "for their families not to have to go through what our family has gone through", he explained.
Transport for London recently launched a new campaign named Look out for Your Mates that urges teenagers to take care on the roads.
