Cycle hub designed to boost Grimsby's green transport credentials

Date: 3/4/2013
A new Cycle Hub set to open at Grimsby Town railway station is expected to boost the city's pursuit of a greener transport system. As the Grimsby Telegraph reports, the facility will give cyclists the opportunity to leave their bikes at a secure site, which will be monitored by operators Cycle Lincs to ensure safety and security.
The building will be accessed using state-of-the-art electronic keys, while there will also be onsite servicing and repairs, maintenance workshops and showers designed for commuters.
"Cycling is such a fun, inexpensive and environmentally-friendly form of transport. And we want to see the town embrace it as a viable option for travel - with the bonus of getting fit and healthy," said Janine Walker, Director of Cycle Lincs.
With Grimsby town centre currently undergoing a £6 million revamp, the new Hub forms part of the wider transformation, which also includes a new pedestrian and cycle link between the bus station and the rest of the local area.
