Drink driving campaign launched in Kent

Date: 10/12/2010
Motorists in the south-east have been warned that just a single beverage can be one too many at the launch of a new drink driving campaign.Kent Highway Services' road safety team emphasised that one alcoholic beverage affects judgement and perception as well as slowing reaction times, according to This is Kent.
The group said anyone exceeding the drink-drive limit of 80 mg per 100 ml of blood could increase their chances of crashing by up to six times.
A spokesman for the team commented: "The real problem is drivers don't know when they are at the limit until they are breathalysed by the police."
The campaign focuses on the message that an individual does not need to feel drunk to be dangerous behind the wheel, while alcohol can still have an effect the morning after.
Police officers in Strathclyde will also be cracking down on driving hazards over the festive season, the Cummock Chronicle reported earlier this week.
