Driving group wins international award

A UK driving organisation has received international recognition for reports identifying road dangers.The Institute of Advanced Motorists (Iam) has won a Prince Michael International Road Safety Award after publishing five influential studies since 2007, including Older Driver: Safe or Unsafe this year.
Simon Best, Chief Executive of the Iam, said: "We are extremely pleased that our innovative policy and research work has been recognised with such an important award."
The organisation aims to initiate action through its reports, which it has achieved by influencing many local and national projects, he continued.
David Jamieson, RoadSafe board member and Vice Chairman of the West Midlands Road Safety Partnership, who presented the accolade, described the Iam as a "worthy" winner due to its "outstanding" research work, which has provided "vital in-depth evidence" to help keep Britain's roads free of dangers.
The organisation is a charity that supports the raising of driving standards and campaigns for improving motoring skills.
