Driving offenders get lesson in road safety

Date: 10/11/2010

Hertfordshire youths who have been convicted of driving offences have been given a dramatic lesson in road safety.

The Watford Observer reports seven young people from across the county attended the Crash Bang event, where they watched a car accident simulation carried out by Borehamwood firefighters.

Keith Emsall, Executive Member for Community Safety and Culture, said the project has been proven to be a highly effective means of imparting a serious message.

"It aims to make the potential consequences of committing a motoring offence really hit home for young people and provides them with an experience they won't forget," he continued.

Mr Emsall added he hopes the scheme will help keep the participants and others safe on the roads for many years.

Youngsters were also urged to drive safely recently by David and Janet Warin, who lost their 17-year-old son in a car accident and have joined a campaign named 95 Alive, according to the York Press.
