Driving "knowledge test" launched in Dubai

Driving "knowledge test" launched in Dubai

Date: 13/1/2011

A new "knowledge test" has been launched in Dubai that will have to be completed by people learning to drive.

The Licensing Agency of the Roads and Transport Agency (RTA) says the new examination will test the theoretical skills of applicants online.

In addition, candidates will also be able to choose the date and time of their theory and practical test by booking an appointment online or by calling a free telephone number.

Once the knowledge test has been passed, learners can schedule their practical examination online.

Chief Executive Officer of RTA Licensing Agency Ahmed Bahrozyan said: "It has been our aspiration to upgrade the metrics that help better explore and assess the knowledge of driving license applicants about traffic regulations and road safety."

He explained that the previous test was made up of ten questions, all of which related to road signs and signals, while the new one will include questions that test learners' skills and traffic awareness.

According to Xpress, the new questions range from "no-brainers" to "puzzlers."
