DSA launches driving test delivery trial

Date: 28/6/2011
The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) has initiated a trial that will measure the success of delivering tests from venues not specifically designated for this purpose.Areas where a significant demand for these exams has been noted but where there are no local test centres will offer candidates the chance to use alternative locations that are deemed convenient for this purpose.
These could include hotels, council buildings and leisure centres, with the trial set to take place in several areas across the country.
Among these are destinations in Wiltshire, Wales, Ayrshire, Dumbarton and Warrington.
Road Safety Minister Mike Penning said: "I want us to be more flexible and innovative in delivering driving tests to make sure that we are offering people the best service possible wherever they live."
The success of the scheme will be measured in terms of the cost of delivery, maintenance of the integrity of the test and levels of customer satisfaction.
Earlier in the month, the DSA revealed that it was searching for sites that could be used on a casual hire basis for people wishing to take their module one motorcycle examination.
