Dubai 'inspired' by Japanese transport infrastructure

Date: 24/10/2011

Dubai has championed the use of an eco-friendly infrastructure and intelligent transport systems (ITS) to help with economic growth and development.

His Excellency Tariq Lootah, executive president of the Dubai School of Government (DSG) has named Japan as a good example for Dubai and the UAE to follow.

Commenting at a DSG seminar on Japan's new growth strategy by using an environmentally friendly transport infrastructure he supported the implementation of a similar system in Dubai.

Tadashi Maeda, special adviser to the Cabinet of Japan, described the country's approach as one using a combination of ITS, electric-hybrid vehicles and renewable energy.

He also stressed the need for an integrated infrastructure, such as high-speed railways [comma] saying that "the outputs are of far grater value and need to be promoted in the Middle East through generating better understanding among decision makers".

Using cutting edge communications technology, ITS can help solve problems such as congestion and traffic accidents by connecting people, roads and vehicles.ADNFCR-2726-ID-800773502-ADNFCR
