Dubai bus stops to be uploaded onto Google Earth

Dubai bus stops to be uploaded onto Google Earth

Date: 2/3/2010

"Google transit" is an exclusive term that illustrates the integration between Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) and Google Inc., according to Mohammed Abu Baker Al Hashemi, acting CEO of the Public Transport agency.

"RTA is keen on capitalising on the latest technology, including the digital space, and this recent step of providing access to public bus stops information through Google Earth will enable users to view this information," said Mr Al Hashemi.

The move to upload Dubai public bus stops information on the digital space of Google Earth will enable public bus users in the Emirate of Dubai to check this information at any time from anywhere in the world.

He adds that the technology aims at assisting the users of Dubai public buses with a selection of the ideal mobility methods and providing up-to-date journey schedules.

Mr Al Hashemi goes on to add that this places Dubai on a par with the most sophisticated cities in the world in the realm of public transportation.
