Electric vehicles are 'truly impressive'

With the spotlight increasingly focused on reducing carbon emissions and improving uptake of eco-friendly vehicles, one expert believes electric cars are already having an impact.

Alastair Ramsay, Sustainable Development Manager at Legrand, said these motors have beneficial effects on the environment - something he described as "truly impressive".

The expert pointed out that widely available full battery and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles were launched earlier this year, which makes their impact even more remarkable.

"These benefits will multiply as the UK electricity supply is 'de-carboned' over the next ten to 15 years," Mr Ramsay continued.

He added densely populated areas such as towns and cities will benefit the most from these cars as greenhouse gas emissions are lowered.

Last month, it was announced that through a partnership between Transport for London and Recyclebank, people in London will be rewarded when they make eco-friendly transport decisions such as cycling to work.
